Task Description
We need a logo design for our very active neighborhood association. We represent 7,000 people in an historic neighborhood just across the Hudson River from NYC. Our audience includes residents, local and state government officials, lawyers, developers, and other local civic groups. In addition to creating membership events and get togethers, we work with the city to set the rules for developers and recently won a lawsuit to force the city to follow their own historic preservation rules and guidelines. We'd like our logo to visually communicate the professional aspects of our organization, with a nod to our history. |

Updates
- If you live in the Paulus Hook neighborhood, please note that when you submit your design. We will NOT use that as criteria for selecting a winner, but we would like to acknowledge the great talent we have in the neighborhood.
- We are extending the contest through the Memorial Day holiday weekend to give some local designers time to submit their entries. The contest will end next week. Thanks to everyone for some great submissions.
- Project is open for 10 days to allow for resubmission of existing designs based on our feedback. No new designs can be considered at this point. Thank you to all the designers who have done a fantastic job. We will be announcing winners shortly.
- Congratulations to the first and second place winners, we look forward to implementing our new logo. Thank you to all designers for making it a very successful contest.

Target Market(s)
There are four primary groups that the HPHA communicates with on a regular basis:
Residents
Developers - there is a lot of high-rise construction going on, so we communicate regularly with some of the big developers in the US about quality of life issues
Government officials - both on the local (city) and state level re: transportation (there are two government transit systems that touch our neighborhood), quality of life, development, and other issues
Other downtown Jersey City associations.

Requirements
Must Have:
Our acronym, HPHA must be featured prominently in the logo
Nice to Have:
Our full name, The Historic Paulus Hook Association, would be nice to have in the logo, but it''s not a mandate.
Should Not Have:
"Historic" treatments like wood-cut images, distressed fonts, or similar graphical design elements. We are looking for professional services styles, not retail or cutesy/comforting styles.
